odometer out!
Just recently the odometer on my 00 cavy no longer lights up at all. I was wondering what may be causing this. I was thinkin maybe a fuse? Any help would be great..

Re: odometer out!
ive heard they had problems wih the lights going out in the dash in the cavy's. i think they had a recall on it but not sure how long ago. maybe take it to the dealer ship or just give them a call and ask them what the problem might be.

Re: odometer out!
It's digital read out so it could be a few things. Make sure the connection is good in the back for one. If all is well and gm says nothing then you could always get a different one, and then if you don't already have a tach then you can get one with a tach and have something upgraded lol my 2cents

Re: odometer out!
Is it just the light out on the odometer? If so, it's just a bulb, #195 I think it is...but don't take my word for it. Take-out the burnt bulb and go to an auto parts store.
The dash has I think 11 or 12 bulbs that light-up the different warning lights, backlights, etc. My daughter's 94 Sunbird recently had 5 of these burnt-out. Take the trim off the dash, take the 4 screws out of the dash panel, and the whole dash panel with speedometer, etc. should just pull-out, there's no cables, wires, etc., it has a built-in plug, and the bulbs twist-plug into the back. Most the screws are torx, but a good allen wrench will remove them. Good Luck, Steve W. |

Re: odometer out!
OK! The bulb IN the twist-in socket is part #PC-194. They are not necessarily a dealer item. I bought one from Carquest (all they had in stock) for $1.25, then five more from a napa dealer for $3.10 each, just call around with the part number above. Trust me, you don't want to just buy the #195 bulb and try to get it into the socket, it don't work real well.......
