Honda Radio Code

I'm hoping that someone can help me out. I just bought a OEM Honda CD player for my 95 Accord. I bought it from a parts dealer/junk yard on EBAY. I have all the information needed for retrieving the code. I even have the VIN No. of the car it came out of. Can anyone get me the code. I contacted Honda and they want $$. I refuse to pay more money for something I just paid for in the first place. Heres the info:

Model No. 39100-SV4-A500

Ref No. CQ-JH1611OZ

Serail No. M96G170516

I would greatly appreciate any help!

THANKS!!!

Re: Honda Radio Code

Honda needs to make sure the radio isn't stolen. If it was as easy as calling them with the info on the sticker, what would be the point of having an anti-theft radio code? Also, you state, "I refuse to pay more money for something I just paid for in the first place." Well, that may be true, but you didn't pay the dealer for the radio, and you expect them to do something for you for free? How much did they want to look up your code? It shouldn't be much. We usually charge 0.5 hr labor to pull a radio and look up a code, depending on the complexity of pulling it out of the dash. Customer history does also come into play. I'm more likely to do a favor for someone who comes in for services than someone who only shows up for warranty work or looking for freebies. A dealer may be charging $79 an hour for labor, but that sure isn't what they are paying the techs. And don't forget, technicians aren't paid by the hour, they are paid by the job, so a freebie for you comes out of the pocket of the technician doing you the favor. A discreet $5 or $10 to a technician, with the sticker information and an explanation of you not wanting to pay some inordinate amount to merely look up a code.

All of this being said, I could look up a code if you get me the VIN # of the car it came from.

Re: Honda Radio Code

This question comes up at least once a week. I wish the mods would make a sticky out of this. Onewheat’s answer is the best answer I’ve heard so far. Although a smart sales manager can look it up in the computer if he’s so inclined.

Re: Honda Radio Code

Yep, I'm still around.

If he bought the radio from a junkyard, he won't have a sticker with the radio code or serial number on it. He has the radio info and any dealer can get the anti-theft code for the radio. Originally, it was just a question of whether it was a legit radio ownership. That's why Honda doesn't just give out the codes to anyone who is just asking.

Is that the Vin from the car it came out of? The radio serial number is the one in the first post? Let me look into it. I just had knee surgery yesterday, so it might take me a few days before I'm up and around.

Re: Honda Radio Code

I can relate to knee problems. I refer to mine as Rice Krispy knees because they're always going snap, crackle and pop...

The model # is 39175-SDA-A120-M2. The reference # is CQ-EH1461Z. The serial # is 12147122. The VIN is 1HGCM56725A111560. If you could email it to [email protected], that would be great.

Thanks.
