Can anyone out there help???? I have a nitrous kit fitted to my Astra (oznos kit) with 50bhp jets for now. Before increasing jets size I would like to fit Nitrous controller manufactured by NOS. To see if the controller is compatable. I need to determine that the AMP draw from my fuel and nitrous solenoids. Does anyone know how I can work this out?

I can't help ya out, but if you post it in the engineering/technical forum, or a mod moves it, then I'm sure that they can answer anything you would ever need to know about cars.
Welcome to AF!!

Thanks for your reply. I've done as you suggested. Being the new boy, I'm trying to find my way around. Had a look at your T.V.R. Great car, made here in the UK. We must have got a few tips from you American guys. |

haha, if anything, us americans should take some tips from British car makers. American cars have to be the biggest peices of crap around. With the exception of a few, of course. But just keep lookin around the site. You'll love it here. btw, do you see many TVR's in the UK? When I get older, I would love to move there so I dont have to go through the trouble of making one of those beasts street legal here.

Believe me you don't want to move here, it hardely ever stops raining. I'm in Scotland near Edinburgh. Seen a few T.V.R.'s recentely, they seem to come out at the weekends. Strange considering there's a T.V.R. dealer only 10 miles from me. Fuels expensive here, thanks to government taxes. Can't be much fun running a v8. We're lucky in some ways, the test stations here aren't too strict on emmisions, especially if you have an older car. We can fit as many tuning parts as we like e.g. highlift cams, nos, etc. etc. The police however are getting a bit strict on speeding, cameras every where. Alot of us are using radar detectors. Found a couple of sights that might interest you. www.tvr-eng.co.uk www.gspovey.demon.co.uk some good pictures and a little history. Coming to the US on holiday in August (Denver) hope to purchase some nitrous accessories. Notice there are a lot Checker Auto Parts stores in US. Are they any good? |

I like rain, so that isnt much of a problem. But I might get sick of it. I just want to get out of the US. Gas is kind of expensive around me, but its still reasonably cheap compared to other places. I'm sure the auto stores are decent, but I wouldn't know because I'm only 16 and don't have my license yet. We can hae almost anything on our cars as long as we can pass emmisions with it. Sometimes they are strict about it, and sometimes they arent. It just depends on how nice the person working at the time is. But the cops around here are the same way, sometimes they pull you over for things like "Why is your car so loud?" heh, once my brother got a warning for stealing his own car. That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. He framed the little paper that he got from the cop and put it on his wall.
Why are you going to buy some nitrous stuff over here? Is it hard to get in the UK? Thanks for the sites too, I've been to the first one before, but I'll go check out the second and see what I can find.

Oh, another thing, have you seen a Cerbera in person before? If so, are they really as long as they look in pictures? Or it that just the camera making it look longer then an average car?

If you want to not worry about emissions, move to Texas. If you live in the rural areas, there are NO(!!!!) emissions controls
If you want to find your amperage, couldn't you just connect an ammeter to one of the contact points and then to the wire that goes to it? Seems to obvious, so it must be harder than that. |

As nitrous kits go here in the UK we don't have alot of choice. Only know of 3 companys who supply. They're all very expensive. Nitrous is only just taking off here thanks to the Fast and the Furious, we're at least 20 years behind you guys. I know what you mean about the cops, it's as bad here. If you drive anything that doesn't look standard they pull you over. Most of the T.V.R.'s are as big as they appear in the photos, low and loud.
Chris-thanks for the suggestion (amp draw) tried putting volt meter across battery and took reading, then connected solenoids and took another reading. It worked out at less than 1 amp, can't be right. Would expect a reading of about 5 amps. I e-mailed kit manufacturer in Australia hopefully he'll know. If he doesn't, it looks like I'll have to go on a college course to study electronics. |

Gas (or petrol here) is very expensive. It cost £1 (about $1.35) a litre! not a gallon! and some americans complain!

There are these really cool ammeters that hook around the outside of the wire, and they read the ampage. My uncle has one, you don't even have to disconnect anything.
