Brake Caliper Bolt Torque Setting & Pads?

RE: 1999 Honda Accord LX 4 cly

In reference to the two long bolts that hold the front brake calipers together, does anyone know the torque settings for these two bolts?

Also, can anyone recommend quality disc brake pads. I don't need top of the line pads, just decent quality pads.

Thanks.

Re: Brake Caliper Bolt Torque Setting & Pads?

Don't know about hte torque settings. I honestly have never bothered with a torque wrench, I just get them to the point that I know they are tight and not moving. Also some anti-vibration lube on them isn't a bad idea to prevent possible brake squeal.

As far as pads, you might want to check out www.tirerack.com for good prices. I'd recommend Hawk and EBC as great brands, I also put the Pro ceramics on my gf's Grand Am and they work for her jsut fine, although she doesn't drive aggressively at all. I have Stillen Metalmatrix pads on 3000gt, these are one of the very few semi-metallic pads I would recommend for a daily driver, because most don't work as well until they reach warmer operating temperatures and they can eat up rotors faster. Hope some of that helps.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Brake Caliper Bolt Torque Setting & Pads?

Call your favorite automotive part supply store. They will generally have two or three quality levels of pads. I would shy away from the bottom and opt for middle to high quality. I would stay away from the metal ones. If you plan on keeping the car for awhile go with the top quality which are often lifetimers.

Torque specs are in your Haynes manual! If you dont have one .. YOU NEED TO GET ONE!

Good and non-expensive brake pads are prob. AXXIS. Hawk are also good but im not sure on cost off hand.
