Re: tranny question??

The Si tranny is a good choice. Faster acceleration than the GS-R, but won't keep you in as high of a rev during highway driving as the Type R one would.

Re: tranny question??

How high the engine can rev has nothing to do with the transmission. The gearing in the transmission will determine how quickly you get to a certain RPM (accelerate). What I ment was that at, say 65mph, you'll be at a slightly lower RPM with the Si (b16a) tranny that with a Type R tranny. Ok, maybe this will help him decide, ask him these questions:

Is he worried about gas mileage at all (no, slightly, or definently)? Is he soley looking for the fastest acceleration? Is he willing to pay a few hundred more for faster acceleration and a stock Honda LSD?

As for price, I have no clue. The Type R will definently be more expensive though. My friend told me he knows a place to get GS-R ones from between $700-900, so expect to pay around there. However, checking classified sections of forums could get you one for far cheaper, I'm sure.

Re: tranny question??

<-----LS Tranny.......23 miles per gallon baby......
Basically Si/Type-R/GSR tranny is for better acceleration
LS Tranny better gas mileage and about a 170mph top speed (if you had the power).....

Re: tranny question??

Fastest acceleration would be the Type R. Personally I'd get the GS-R. I'm not interested in just fastest acceleration and I do care about gas mileage.

Re: tranny question??

i have question about tranny.the si tranny seems to be best for acceleration. I have heard of putting in an ls 5th gear for gas millaege. would a 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear from an si a 4th from a gsr and a 5th from an ls work?
