Talking the low,lows

I want to know how to get the lowest of the lows, ya know tha kind that loosen lugnuts, the kind that when you ride through the hood you kill animals and small children, you know........well you got the point, I've got 4 twelves 2 powerbass and 2 JL audio W0's powered by a Boss Riot 1400 watt amp the only thing I really know that's holding me back is the THICK ASS back seat in my silver century and the fact that I'm using two prefab boxes instead of a custom measured and built enclosure, and the fact that I don't have my trunk soundproofed yet (and I want opinions on that too)

How do I get the lows like I want?

Re: the low,lows

Get a BIG sub, put it in a BIG ported box and tune it to 10hz. Get a BIG amp and some BIG wires.

Re: the low,lows

Get a 15" or 18". www.reaudio.com has some nice XXX 15" and XXX 18" subs, also look at their MT line.

-The Boss amp will play the lower register just fine, it simply doesn't have the output strength required.
-Memphis' MOJO's are good for really pounding out the lower tones.
-A crossover won't make the sub play lower, it will only reduce frequencie output above/below the set point, usually by 6db/octave, maybe 12db/octave (what's the norm anymore on that, Paul?)
-Speaker wire doesn't make as big of a difference as you think. It's biggest difference is in clarity. Second to that, the only other reason you'd want bigger wire is to protect your amp from overheating by pushing too much power through too resistive of a conductor(wire).

I was not saying anything about the amp just the boss my cousin had played super sloppy and that all.I know the crossover wont let the sub play lower it will only let the freq set go threw.ANd yes speaker wire does not make a big diff but ther is some. And yes if you amp can take 4gag wire then use it so you amp get all the power it will take and not over heat.Oh i i think the db on the cross is norm 12d i think. Also what type of wire are you using in the car. Also is you car matted or anything to keep the sound from the road out and keep the bump inside the car.

Re: the low,lows

lots of cone area, lots of power, lots of xmax, lots of box... and using a sub or subs that are optimized for lower output wouldnt hurt..

http://www.adireaudio.com/Mobile/TumultSeries.htm

ha this came to mind.. esp the 18s

Please stop posting. Your writing style is giving me a headache and you did yourself in by asking "what type of wire are you using in the car?". If that is in reference to "brand" then you are indeed an idiot. This guy just needs a new sub and amp, period.

Re: the low,lows

getting lots of bass is pretty simple .... as most of the regulars on here can tell you. You get several large subs and give 'em lots of power. A higher order box is more efficient, so a bandpass box will be louder - all other things being equal.

The other problem is propagation in and out of the car. As far as I know, anything done to make more bass with what you have IN the car will mean less bass OUTSIDE the car. Also, it's usually a lot harder to get pounding bass in a sedan with a trunk than a hatchback style. It's more or less a trade-off. Some of the other guys on here know a lot more about bass stuff than I do.

As far as the equipment goes .... don't mix sub types, get 2 large subs from a good company and a powerful amp. Although the Boss amp says 1400 watts, those are ILS ratings, it's probably like 100 watts X 4 channels or whatever. It's an ok budget amp when you know what it's REAL power output is, but I'm sure it does not have the power to produce the kind of bass you want.

Ok np when i posted what type of wires i meant what size of wires sorry.4awg 8awg 12awg.Just wanting to know what size he had and all that.i dont care about brand at all just size. Also if you want to hit low low you might want to upgrade you alt and do a big 3 upgrade aswell ( you cant get to that when you get a more powerful amp).
