First street race

Well it finnally happened, but the odds of it happening are very low. See I live in a good sized city but we have NO car enthusiests and the little we have its rare to meet them at a light, and even if i ever did, i drive a van.

but fate had other plans for me tonight. I was driving my dads 2001 Special Edition 6speed miata with the top down and i lined up on the way home. but heres the twist, i didn't even look over to see who was next to me i was just chillin. But my friend told me (later) that they were peeping us. well anyways like i said before i didn't see them so as the light turns green i take off normally but right as i'm about to shift into second i heard an aftermarket exhaust, and so i immediatly stay in first and gun it. I redlined 1st/2nd gear and was well into 3rd when i had to shut down to turn onto my street, but i was a car ahead! Now heres the kicker, we see him fly by and its a white acura integra with 2 huge pipes and stickers.

Ok, I'm not sure what he had, but im pretty sure my 130(140?)hp miata should have been raped by his 17-hp teg, especially since i didn't even know i was racing until it started. i had seen the car around town before and at racing hangouts, if i ever see it again ill have to give him shit; it was pathetic.

well i dont understand what you first said, but my whole point is that it's NOT a nice car einstein. The only preformance differnce from the miata grandma's drive is the 6spd transmission, and more shifting means more chances to mess up, plus i rarely drive it so im not exactly speed shifting or anything. And it doesn't matter if it's "daddy's car" moron, its stock.

And for terminal, im positive he was going for it, after i shut down he flew by, and the reason i punched it was because i heard his exhaust in high revs. Also, my car looks very fast. The special edition has british racing green paint with a tan leather and wooden interior, chrome gas cap, and worst of all the chrome (stock) 18's. The car looks very nice and lots of people say I'm lying when i say it's stock (the appearance is decieving), but it is. But thats true about the weight, i dont know.

6 speed miatas are a high 14 second car stock arent they? dont the 6 speeds have a 1.8 with like 155-160hp? plus theyre light, good gearing, and rwd. not many stock or near-stock integras could stand up to that, except MAYBE a gsr with a GOOD driver, and of course the ITR, but its not very likely that it was an ITR, and it probably wasnt even a gsr, so thats why you won.

The six speed miata 1/4 time is a 16.6 according to Car and Driver magazine.

As much as I see them as yuppy cars, I have to give the Miata the crown of having, IMHO, the most potential in it's class. I'd much rather have a light little two seater with rwd then the other 4 seaters and/or 4drs with fwd. Also I've heard talk of some people getting decent HP out of the stock bottom end with a turbo and such... I still think their yuppy cars though
