Angry Electric door locks

I just purchase a 1998 Trooper with 100k miles. I am beginning to wonder if it was such a smart thing to do.
When I push the button on either the drivers or passenger side I hear a click noise but nothing happens to the locks. Any ideas?
I am not sure if my trooper came with remote entry since the owner didn't give me a remote. But I had planned on adding remote entry from Circuit City for about $100 but if I cant get the door locks to work its useless.

Re: Electric door locks

On my '98 if I push the lock button and it's already locked it clicks, but other than that it works.
Also, you can try getting an Isuzu keyless remote from ebay and programming it to your car. It's much cheaper (like ~15) and you'll get the factory remote, albeit used. The programming instructions are in the FAQ sticky thread (# 41 I think)

Re: Electric door locks

well I ended up taking my trooper to my service shop to have the Water pump and timing belt changed...I just bought the thing 3 weeks ago so I figured with 100k miles on it I better go ahead and have all that done before it goes out. I had the water pump replaced, timing belt and serpentine belt replaced and a fuse replaced for the door locks (one thing I didn't check) all for $386...does that sound high or about right?

Re: Electric door locks

Can't comment specifically on the cost related to the Trooper but when I had my other cars' timing belts done (Subaru and VW) it alone cost me $500+. So, it sounds like a good deal to me.

I too just purchased a Trooper about 3 weeks ago. Mine is a '99 with 85k miles. So far, so good! Congrats.
