Little Black Button

Just purchased a 93 Legacy. Would like to know what the little black button, just forward of the automatic shift lever, is for? Also, has a CD Player. When inserting a CD, it remains for 30 seconds or so than spits it out. Should I be doing something other than turning on the radio and inserting the CD? Earle

I believe that button is for shifting the transmission in to different gears with out the key lets say you need to move the car and you dont have the key you just press and hold that button and shift the transmission into nuetrel with out the key.

I hope this helps, Jan
