Exclamation timing belt for 100k miles

ive got the 2000 Gt eclipse and its now got 130k mostly highway miles on it and the manual says to replace the timing belt at 100k miles. i really dont want to do it. its a rather expensive and painful operation. so what im asking is am i gonna for sure screw myself or am i probly gonna be ok without da new belt.ill prolly have the car for 1-2 more years

there is a chance you won't NEED the belt for however much longer you have the car, but why you would want to walk the line like that i dont' kno

it is recommended you change the belt now, simply for the fact taht when the belt snaps your engine is history, you will need a new one, and that can run you from twice as much as doing the belt to 5 times as much if a dealership does it

so yes, you could walk the line, but only if you want a new motor pre-maturely

which brings me to another point, you don't HAVE to change your oil either, just don't come asking how to clean the dark gunky stuff out of your engine and why there is black smoke coming out your exhaust
