2000 - 2002 2500hd

Hey all, new to the forum. This seems like a good place with some helpful people, so here goes.

I'm in the market to upgrade from a '94 2500 extended cab shortbox 4X4, and I'm looking for a 2000 - 2002 2500 HD extended cab shortbox with a 6.0. I was just wondering if there are any problems with these pickups that anyone knows of. My dad has a 2002, but is mostly a go to town truck. Mine will be a work and personal truck, and will see farm work, such as pulling trailers.

Also any feedback from owners is really appreciated.

I look forward to being a part of the forum!

Re: 2000 - 2002 2500hd

my dad has an 02 2500hd with the 6 liter as well, and it has only a few problems, something in the drive-train clunks pretty good sometimes, and there is considerable piston slap at intitial startups in the mornings (maybe the pistons are aluminum while the sleeves are iron?), he said some people have asked him if it was a diesel lol... other than that its good i suppose

Re: 2000 - 2002 2500hd

I went from a 95 K2500 (light duty) ext cab shortbox to an 02 2500HD, pretty much like you plan. This is a MUCH heavier duty truck, but seems to ride better than the lighter duty 95. Towing difference is like night and day. I can tow a car hauler in o/d where I used to have to use D range for a clamshell sled trailer with my last 2 K2500's. More durability then the 1500's as far as differentials, trans, brakes. 4.10's with an Eaton locker works great.

Standard issues just like the other models and previous years. Piston slap, cold exhaust leak from broken LR manifold bolt, etc.
