92 Wrangler 2.5 Alt question

On the back of the alternator, there is a piece that gets screwed on the back. It's black and goes to the battery. What is it? I can't seem to locate the part on any web site.

It sounds like the wire that charges the battery. I've never heard of buying that piece separate from the alternator.

I think it may be part of the OEM battery cable. It attaches with a connector to the OEM cable. I was just wondering what it was.

I have a 94 YJ, and to my understanding, from tracing the wire, that piece also sends a signal to the computer for whatever reason. Just one of those things technology introduces to the engine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, that's just what I gathered from replacing mine and seeing the same piece.
