LS6 Intake

What improvement is an LS6 intake over the stock? How much does it cost? and how difficult is it to put on? Thanks

Re: LS6 Intake

when i had my ls1 when i was looking at them they were like $600 but if you run that with a 90mm throttle body, that is a big upgrade.

Re: LS6 Intake

they are bigger, they allow more air in, wich is more hp. With a good throttle body and lid i think you will see aorund 25hp increase

Re: LS6 Intake

So which would benefit me more? Getting a new cold air induction, air box lid, smooth bellow, K&N air filter, and MAF sensor, or an LS6 Intake and throttle body? or a combination of those? Sorry im new to all this so sorry if these are dumb questions... or i may just be getting in over my head

Re: LS6 Intake

Find a used LS6 intake on LS1Tech or something for $300-325.
Brand new an LS6 intake goes for $400-450.
Keep your stock throttle body and get it ported and polished. $75-100 for that.

KEEP THE MAF STOCK!!!!!

Re: LS6 Intake

DO NOT GET THE FAST INTAKE. from what i hear you actaully lose HP if you dont havea big enough stroker. Get an SLP ls6 intake or a weiland intake. They will set ya back $450-$500 w/ shipping. Like it was mentioned before the intake, lid and a nice TB will put 20-25 extra ponies at the rear wheels. Installation is hard. Mr Luos did it and hes experianced. It took him 2 hrs (correct me if im wrong.) If you dont know what your doing spend the xtra $150-200 to have a pro install. I wood rather spend a couple extra hundred and get it installed, rather then screwing it up and paying $1000's to fix. If you think you can tackle it then go ahead just dont give in 1/2 hr into the job.

Re: LS6 Intake

Install can be a pain in the butt.
If you are patient and have time...shouldn't be too bad though. Get ready for little cuts on your arms.

Nothing wrong with the FAST intake. Even on a stock car. Problem is...the stock heads can't flow well enough to keep up with the FAST intake. Cam being stock doesn't help matters either. The FAST intake is great for any car...even better as you start to mod more. Should not lose any power. Might not see big gains at first...but if you plan on modding internals at all...then it would become worth it.
I have read to avoid the FAST throttle body though. No problems with mine as of yet.

My intake set-up...
K&N filter, Lid, 85mm MAF (mistake), Home Depot Fernco bellow ($5), FAST LSx 90/90.
