Axles, Tires, and Tranny 305/70R16
Got a 98 ram 1500 5.2L 4x4. Just put on some 305/70R16 that i got cheap on stock 16" rims and stock axles and tranny with no lift ((Yet)). Anyone got any insight on long term effects on the tranny or differentials or wheel bearings, etc. No rubbing, just turned the wheel stops a quarter inch so there is plenty of room for the tires not hitting the control arms. The axles are stock 9.25 chrysler 3.55 gears in back and dana 44 - 3.54 gears in front. Shifting is a bit different but quite acceptable. Thanks

well, I would imagine that your speedo is off by at least 10 MPH and that will affect your shift points b/c your tranny is electronically controlled.

Re: Axles, Tires, and Tranny 305/70R16
Yep, speedo is off by approx. 11% and shift point are affected. Power seems ok for the type of driving i do right now, mostly street. Mostly concerned with the life of the tranny with 3.55 gears due to any heat buildup, until i get the cash for different gear ratio and some lockers. Which will be a while. Just wondereing if this was too big of a change. Thinking of getting a hypertech chip too, they can fix the shift points and speedometer by changing the computers read of the back abs sensor. Plus a bit more performace and a fun toy. Anyone else been runnin 305's on their ram for a long time with no mods?
