Re: 96 s10 4.3L Check engine light

did you check compression? and im not sure, but i beleve 96 has a point in the distributor for every cylender, so it is possible one point is messed up but highly unlikly, seams to me like that would kill the truck all together without the cam signel... who read your code? Autozone with the pos Actron scanner or a shop with a scan tool, not just a reader?

Re: 96 s10 4.3L Check engine light

I pull codes with a Snap On modis. compression? i dont know ill have to try that...the check engine light goes on and off sometimes so its kind of an off and on thing. when the light is on and i try to hold a constant speed like 60mph the truck bucks and surges so i still have no clue anymore ideas?

Couldn't hurt to run some injector cleaner through it.

well if fuel pressure is there, and you know you have spark, i would say intermittent injector pulse drop (could be intermittent spark drop also, but you would most likly notice that in the wire) with a short to ground or open

Re: 96 s10 4.3L Check engine light

funny you say injectors i also took out the enitre spider injector and teseted it and i ran a snap on injector cleanner system through it and i have good fuel pressure and it has a new MAF sensor on ther intake so i have no clue i guess the only thing that hasnt been done is a new distributor and if that dont work anybody hear of computers going bad?
