Ok, new plan for the Blazer
I have been thinking of how to do this right for a while. This video I posted in another thread got me thinking even more
http://www.frontiernet.net/~face440/Chevy_ballet.wmv What could be done to make my 2000 Blazer 2wd handle like this? I have been looking into going with 18s to get more tire and grip, and eibach lowering kit (a drop of 1.3 inches in front 2.0 in the rear). ZQ8 sway bars and steering box upgrade. What else would be needed? Now as far as power I have been looking at used LS1s on Ebay and local junk yards. A few on ebay come with the tranny already bolted up but I do not need a new tranny. I would just have to reprogram the ECU right? Or just use the one off the camaro/trans am I am getting the engine out of? Now unlike a few others on the board, you will always notice that when I say I am going to do something I do it. Recheck all my posts and you will see. The paint job is the only thing I have not done yet I said I was going to do because I got to thinking about more power. So I am looking for serious answers here. A mechanic at work said do not go the LS1 route, Get a carb'd 350 or a 383 stroker and use it. I would have to replace the tranny too if I did that though right? Got with a 350 tranny I think is what he said. So what is the best way to go about putting a v8 into a new body style Blazer? LS1 or older 350 block? If I get some good answers I could have this whole swap (suspension and engine) done by summer time. But I would really like it to handle like the Trailblazer SS does in that video I linked to. Having a bunch of horsepower is useless if you can not take it into a corner.

Re: Ok, new plan for the Blazer
Also doing a brake upgrade but that is much easier to do. Bigger rotors/calipers are easy to find.
Do they make upgraded suspension components? Arms and ball joints and all that good stuff?

Re: Ok, new plan for the Blazer
I personally wouldn't call that handling.
What you want to do that is a front line lock, beefed up transmission. More power doesn't hurt, and when you start braking parts only replace them with performance parts. Don't run sticky tires on the rear end. As log as your Blazer doesn't suddenly regain traction there's no fear of it doing funny things. Watch motorcycle road racing, and this is where they suddenly have problems. The line lock keeps the front brakes applied, wheil the back are free. |

Re: Ok, new plan for the Blazer
hey hit up the www.v8s10.org look through their there is a site for ls1 s10s cant think of it off hand. also the s10forum has lots of info on this. LS1 will require shoe horning and fabrications. There is a cd out their that is like 20 bucks by that before you do anythng LS1 related.
