Question Intake?

There are so many Intakes available for the civic, I'm trying to figure out what to get. I was most likely getting an AEM intake, but I was also looking at the DC intake, or the Weapon-R? Was also wondering about that front mount Aerospeed intake. WHICH ONE IS THE BEST!? let me know your opinions.

AEM intake is the phattest out there... It looks awesome as hell, sounds awesome as hell, and made my bros Accord so much faster. When the throttle is pushed quickly, it sucks in so much air that it makes a phat ass sound... Almost like a blow-off valve, but not quick as great... Anyways, the performance was increased a crapload...

Anyone thought about Injen cai?

I've noticed that injen and aem are using almost the same material(well, at least looks like to me). And injen is cheaper.

However, I have aem cai and I think it's cool.

i know that arospeed makes some cheap stuff so i dont know if you would want to get thier front mount intercooler. if you dont want to send a lot of money then just get an aem short ram intake.

I voted AEM, but personally I wouldn't spend the money. I built an 'AEM' style CAI myself for under $100. I followed these instructions: http://www.teamdelsol.com/howto/coldair/diycoldair.htm. It feels good to know you did it yourself and you save a ton of cash. Also looks cool under the hood, you can paint it any color and brag to all your friends. One note, if you are going to follow those instructions replace on of the rubber joints with a bypass valve.

I say AEM... I got a really good price from speedandstyle.com it was
$199 shipped to my door. I never had the zc with the stock intake so I don't know how much of a power gain I got from stock. But its nice and all that.

If you build your own (listed above) I've heard from all the SOLers that that has been proven to give more HP than an AEM. But if you don't want to make your own, I'd go for an AEM. Go to that link above where you can make your own and they'll tell you why AEM is so good an why it works so well.

As far as your question, A reg CAI goes down to your bumper. It runs the risk of sucking in water which obveously isn't good for your engine. A short ram doesn't go down that far so it has less chance of sucking in water. THe only thing is its getting more hot air from the engine bay which would not give you as much power as a regular AEM. It just depends on where you live and if you're concerned with water in your engine.

AEM, im all about AEM. I pulled that thing from the box and i about pissed my pants. I put it on my car and half hour later i was hittin the street. I went around the block at a good speed and when i got back my dad was like "woow that adds nice sound to your engine" Hell yeah thats what i wanted. IT adds a nice ummph to your pick up and low end. IM strong thoughout the powerband. Get AEM you can go wrong.

I have two friends that built them thereself and they look like garbage. The pipe is not mandrel bent, its just jagged metal. even if you can get good pipe and all that i stll say get an AEM CAI or SRI. You get what you pay for.

I built my own and it looks almost exactly like and AEM intake, one of the only give aways is the lack of a decal. I would recomend building it yourself, it took me 2 hours including dissasembling and reassembling the car, and it saved me over $100.

Whats Value, I'm usually in Chinatown or down at 35/Ashland (the White Castle parking lot). We go to the stock yards at 45/Ashland and at 45/Pulaski or up north to Knox/Montrose or Division/Ashland... Where do you meet?
