Re: How many Oxygen sensors?

You have 4 sensors. The bank 2 is the one that comes from the front of the engine.

P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency below Limit - Bank No 2

Way2old may have a better idea on how likely it is that this means that the catalytic converter is bad.

I suspect that this code is set if the Bank 2, Sensor 2 (B2S2) shows excessive rich exhaust a majority of the time. I don't think catalytic converters fail too often, therefore if the catalytic converter is bad, it probably failed due to other issues.

This code could also be due to an out of range B2S2 oxygen sensor, and not necessarily a bad converter.

Re: How many Oxygen sensors?

You are correct Rod. Usually a converter failure is due to ignition problems, fuel delivery problems, air intake problems, vacuum problems, exhaust leaks, O2 problems and last the converter. Usually if the moniter gets to the point the converter inefficient code is tripped, it is not long before the converter completely dies. This can be prolonged by making sure the engine is operating properly and all O2 sensors are operating as designed. A scan tool that can read the PIDs is in order to accurately diagnose your code. The rear o2 sensors should be slow moving and somewhere between .40 volt to .70 volt. If it is moving the same as the front one, that is when the codes trip.
