Question How to beat a ford probe

Ford Probes aroud 96 are the big car where i live i cant stand them. is there any way short of a turbo i could beat one with a 90 teg ls. Most of the probes only have body kits and a resonater nothing else. There may be a handfull out of litraly hundreds that have boltons. Right now im stock except rims and springs.

First off..... Wht size engine is the Ls engine is it a 1.8l or 1.7l (rare)

If it is the 1.8l there are ALOT of Turbos out there for it..... try HKS or GReddy

how fast are probes? i thought they shouldn't be a problem. for cost effectiveness just get a vtec head for your ls. should be able to get one for ~$300 at www.thepartstrader.com

Thats kinda a dumb reason to hate a car isnt it? Ford has made some good stuff in their day...

Pyter400, is your car a stick or an auto? If its a stick, you could probably win just by hitting your shifts, if its an auto... umm I doubt you will win. *shrugs*

Throw a cold air intake on that. Should give you that little extra boost you need to smoke them probes.

You should beat them anyhow. But oh well.

You mean you can chirp every gear up to 4th? My friend has a GSR, and he has only chirped 3rd once... *shrugs*

I can only chirp 2nd on my car, but thats probably because my clutch is dying...

I used to drive an 88 accord with very little clutch the las day i drove it to get my teg it droped out and i drove it like that for over a year the last day i had to start it in gear rev it to over red and just slam it to the next gear. when i got my new car with an actuall clutch i could stop spining the tires in first it ive actually chirped them going into 5 but i did that once just to do it i just reved and droped just to see if it could do it
its all about forgeting about the safety of you car and relizing you can fix it when you get home.

Oh, so you mean that shifting from say 2nd to 3rd, you just hold in the clutch, put it in third, rev it up and then drop the clutch? I bet I could chirp my gears that way, but I wouldnt be able to fix it when it broke :P

I thought you meant you could chirp em all just shifting quick...

Thats too broad of a statement... Ford kicked ass back in the day in racing... They also had some bad ass muscle...

They still have some good cars, Cobra R Mustang, F150 Lightning... I'm sure there are at least a few other good ones they make :P

Ok people, the probe is the biggest POS ever, a friend of mine has one and has spent $2500 on it (repairs, not mods, repairs)

Also on the chirping thing, I can do it into second but not third.

there is no 1.7 ls engine. you might be thinking of the 92+ integra gsr which has a 1.7 DOHC VTEC engine. that is the only 1.7liter engine that honda made that i know of, all 90+ ls engines are 1.8
