Help please...trans issue

I got in the truck today and fired her up as usual (2000 Blazer 4.3L 4WD by the way) and Check engine light came on. Took it to the local Autozone to have them scan the code and it came up as a Shift solenoid.
What is the deal? The haynes manual doesn't cover it and I have no flippin clue where to begin. Is it a pros job or just a weekend afternoon with a lot of busted nuckles and a 12 pack? Any help please!!!!!!!

Shift solenoids are not difficult to replace. The pan needs to be dropped to access the solenoids. The procedure is in the Haynes or Chilton automatic transmission manual. While you've got the pan off, replace the filter also. If you post the P code that Autozone retrieved, we can figure out which solenoid or solenoids need to be replaced.

Like Old master said. Need P code No.
Also remember the code does not say replace the solenoid or part. It says check it out. Could be one of many things like fues ,electrical circuit, wiring.
Give us that code NO.

The scanner did give the code for the shift solenoid circuit. I belive the code was P0755 which says Shift solenoid Circuit Fault.

I am taking it to the local dealer tomorrow just do be sure about the extent of it.

Thanks for the code. But The code 755 is only a OBD11 code.
You need the manf/trans/engine codes to know what solenoid or problem is.
Or in other words you need a good scanner like what the dealer or repair shop has to get to the bottom of it.
Could be solenoid or just electrical circuit or even the computer itself.

Well no sooner then I sign off of the computer I get the call from the dealer. Seems as though I have a bad harness to the solenoid, also a bad 1-2 and 3-4 So pretty much it was all messed up. Not bad for parts and labor though only $596. I was expecting to was to give up one of my limbs for it. Should have it back in a day or two so its all good.

Well guess what, I got it back today. All work completed and even found out what that annoying creaking in the front was. Turns out where I was taking my car for oil changes (CARMAX because I get an associate discount) wasnt lubing the front end like they said they were. The service tech informed me that (in his own words) "It looks like this ball joint hasnt been touched in 50,000 miles) So needless to say I am not happy and will not go back to Carmax for any service to my truck. This is the second time they have either mis-diagnosed or didn't fix what was wrong the right way with me. Not to mention that they also neglected to inform my mom that her ball-joints were bad as well until it was to late.

Sorry to vent just frustrated. Thanks for all the input though on all of this.
