Refurbished GT4 Callipers....never again

Not a job I ever want to do again...I`ve still got the back ones to do..Doh! Oh well...took me 9 hours to refurb the old brake callipers to their current standard, Took the old callipers off the car, lots of paint stripper to get the old paint off from my last attempt to make them look better, about 2 - 3 Hours of wire brushing to get the finish smooth and paint free...also there was a lot of disimilar metal corrosion around the back of the calliper which needed sorting out. Some heat resistant paint and a file later the results look pretty good, I also replaced all the seals and rubbers, and replaced the DOT4 brake fluid with DOT5.1...difference is amazing although had a siezed piston which wouldnt have helped.

The callipers went from this rather sorry looking thing.......

To this

Will do the back ones in about 40 years when I can be bothered again

Hahahaha ..... high praise indeed. I think the question contains the answer, plus red wouldnt go very well with blue.

U could get TRD brake kits and move your front disk to the back if you have some spare $. Ive been longing to do that, but its serve no purpose right now really...

I think a blue caliper would look hideous as well . btw, does gt-fours always come with slotted rotors? and I've been wanting to ask if yours also has that "superstrut" assembly. Or is it just a normal strut?

GT4`s come with plain rotors..I have fitted TRD discs and pads to mine....and All ST205 GT4`s came with superstrut suspension....thats was easy next question

Re: Refurbished GT4 Callipers....never again

why wast the $1000 for a big break kit when its going to make me stop 10 feet shorter when i could just spend $200 and stop 5 feet shorter, then invest the other $800 on handleing better so i dont have to break as much?
lol

Whats the difference in this superstrut layout? is the strut itself essentially different? and how do they compare w/ wishbones (like the ones evo uses for their rears)?

Better investment alright. LSD kit for $800-ish? But I still like the look. screw brembos if I can steal a TRD. I see one on ebay for $1800...lol. That's almost half of a 3sgte swap budget...
