98 E4OD vacuum modulator question

Hi,

I just purchased a 1998 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition with the 5.4L engine.
I'm not sure which transmission is in the vehicle but it has the A4WD as well as the manual high and low 4WD positions.
I'm assuming it has the E4OD transmission.

My question is; do the transmission's still use the old type vacuum modulator that had a line running up to an intake manifold vacuum port?

I ask because on mine I know I had a vacuum leak.
The first thing I found were two 1/4 or 5/16th inch ports just above the IAC valve area.
One of these ports had a rubber cap on the port but the other one which aims towards the firewall was open.
I could not find any loose lines anywhere so I put a plugged vacuum hose on the open port.
One of the lines from the PCV valve also hooks up in this area to another small port.

Before I plugged the open port, I checked the vacuum at the port and it seemed very weak.
So I did some more checking and discovered the "L" shaped vacuum connector also from the PCV valve had turned to mush and broken in two.
This was hooked to a very large maybe 5/8 or 3/4 inch port on the manifold just below the IAC valve.
I'm going today to get a new "L" boot for that.

So for now I think I have the vacuum leaks temporarily fixed till I can get the new part for the PCV valve line.

But my transmission seems to wind out in 2nd gear before it drops into 3rd.
I recall from my old days that a bad or disconnected vacuum modulator would cause these similar shifting problems.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows if they still use a vacuum modulator?
If so then does anyone know the attachment point for the line at the manifold?

Once I'm in 3rd and get on the highway, the transmission shifts fine between 3rd and 4th.

I would simply look underneath but I do not have ramps or stands available at the moment and I'm surely not going to trust the factory jack to support the vehicle while I snoop around the bottom side looking for a modulator

No vacuum modulator on a E4OD trans. All electronic controls. There should be a vacuum diagram under the hood that shows where all the lines go.

Ok, Thanks for that info.
I figured they had did away with the old style modulators.

I drove the thing today after making repairs and it ran fine plus shifted normally.
