Service Engine Light...

Hello-
I'm new to this site, and was hoping someone might be able to help me out...I have an '01 3.4 Alero with 74K ...I recently got an oil change and put in a new air filter about a month and a half ago...I have about 1k before my next oil change...anyways, to get to the point, I was driving earlier tonight and as I turned out of the gas station, I heard A loud click when I turned on my signals...I didn't think much of it until the "service engine soon" light illuminated...Any reason, or way, these two things are related? any advice would be appreciated...

Re: Service Engine Light...

Welcome to AF!! The two problems probably aren't related but they could be. The best thing to do is to get the computer scanned to pull the code and then post it here. Once you get the code someone will be able to point you in the right direction. If you go to Autozone they will scan it for you for free and give you the code. They may even offer some repair advice.

If you just recently refueled check your gas cap for tightness so the error doesn't reoccur. A loose cap will give a SES light and is picked up as an evaporative emissions fault.

Re: Service Engine Light...

I don't know if the problem has been fixed or not, but I had a fault gas cap that turned on the "Service engine soon" light.
