1992 Grand Prix Problem

I'm trying to remove the stock stereo in my car. But I cant figure out for the life of me how to take off the part of the dash that sits in front of my tape deck and heat controls. If you could tell me how to talk that off it would be great!

Re: 1992 Grand Prix Problem

If your 92 is like my 91 was, there are 4 screws that retain that panel. They go in vertically, two on each side. You'll have to open the glove box, and you'll see the two on the passenger side. You may have to remove the hush panel under the steering column to gain access to the drivers side screws. Once these 4 screws are removed, the panel slides out horizontally.

I'm attempting a similar project of replacing the stock radio that came with my 1993 Grand Prix.

I looked on the same site at the appropriate Grand Prix category, but it turns out that it wasn't any help. The section on removing the stero on a 1990-95 Trans Sport would probably be the one to look at. It turns out the stero setup/dash setup in a early 1990s Grand Prix is far closer to that of an early Trans Sport than the 95+ Grand Prix (the dash that is shown in the pics on the carstereo.com site, even for the early 1990s GPs).

Did you have any luck replacing the radio on your Grand Prix?

If so, what tool would you recommend using?

Thanks,
Kevin
