New voting rules.

Okay people, you have acted like children long enough. Lets get some things straight in here. The only way a person can vote twice, is to register another name. Is there a way we can stop that? No, not really. If someone wants to register more than once, and vote more than once, thats up to them. Is it honest? Hell no. But there is nothing we can do to stop it, unless they post and we can compare IP's. So hopefully they can be happy with their pathetic selves.

So, to prevent this in the future. If you want to have a photoshop contest. Thats fine. Feel free to set one up. But, all photshop contest voting threads will be created by a mod only. No exceptions. Voting will only be submited via the PM feature to the mods listed in the thread, so that we can check, and compare IP's. Any other contest voting thread created by a non mod, will be locked.

As for the rules at hand, they will stand. Anyone have a problem with this? Post up now, or stop complaining.

thank you kbslacker we all appreciate this! one side note, you should do something about the people that have/are cheating right now. for people like me that spend 5 hours in front of their computer to get nothing because someone has to create multiple account's is not pleasing, in fact i was close to leaving photochop and never going back because of the immaturity, the cheating, dis-honesty, it all upset me to a certain degree that i could not handle it anymore without blowing up in everyone's face. in my contest a person has to vote for the picture they like by sending me an email with their screen name and who they voted for and which forum they are from. that way i can ensure that the people voting are who they say they are and will not be duplicated at any cost's. anyway's im off to go have some beer and get drunk and play with stripper's and their thong's, you all have a good night.

Still useless... there IS no way to stop cheating... people on dialup get different IP everytime time they connect, waaaayyy too easy to override the IP checking.. or better yet, just go to a friend's computer and vote there, completely different IP... there i just told all yall asses how to cheat... hehe... so be very afraid, cause i know all the tricks of the trade, and i will cheat in the next contest i join ^.^ hahahahahahhahahaha jokes jokes... i'm a bit drunk today don't mind me..

there is a way behind that, email.

a person must email me their vote. including the forum(s) they are from, and their screen name, i double check that to confirm , yes they are who they say they are then i tally the votes....after the competition is over i will display who voted for who.

i don't know if this is possible but just don't let people who have zero or almost zero number of posts vote (i know i'm one to talk). but this way u don't get people creating new sn's just to double up on their votes. i don't see why people feel the need to cheat since there aren't any prizes and if anyone wanted to cheat just to feel good about themselves i say let them do so but have to live with the fact that their work isn't up to par, but mos def some regulation is need for this kinda ish. i'm new to the fine art of photochop and haven't even been in one comp and i don't want to see it get shut down just like that.

Thanks KB.

Illracer: the only problem with your proposal (must have posts to be able to vote) is that this might encourage postwhoring. However, it is a good idea. Unfortunately, with the previous polling/voting system it was not possible to restrict users like this, or even see who voted so they could be checked out. However, with all voting done through a mod, we will be able to look up the voters' profiles and verify their IPs, their signup date, and whether they have been making useful posts.

Actually there is a way to stop cheating. I'm not new to the internet/computers so I can tell if you are the same person. People slip up, in the way the write, the words they use, their attitude. So like I said, it's not hard to tell.

As for the not allowing votes for members with low post counts. I don't agree with that. We may have 'lurkers' who really dont like posting that much. Why discirminate against that?

So like I said, when it comes time to create the poll for voting. Whoever setup the contest, will PM a mod, and from there we will get the voting process setup.

I gUeSs NoT tHaT mAnY pEoPlE aCtUaLlY rEaD mY pOsT.

kbslacker: LoL.. buddy, sure u can trace ppl with dialup... no $hit... no offense but anyone's who's played round with computers for awhile knows that... even with different ip.. they'll have originate from the same "server" or "domain"..

This is probly a rare case, but what if two different people share the same comp? Obviously they'd have same internet connection, but they're still different people.

even so dere is no way 2 stop people from going 2 n other puter n set up account dere and vote sure you can look @ dere sign-up dates n realize dey all sign-ed up dat month but i can just as easely setup 50 acounts now n just wait a month or so n then vote

Ive been moderator myself at other forums, as long as a thread has the word "contest" or "competition" in it. People WILL cheat, and they WILL find their ways of doing it. Obviously, some get caught, but there are many that will never be. There is definitely NO WAY to stop it. Unless there is NO contest.

Notice I used different "typing styles" and "language" and "attitude" in the statements above. You simply can't determine if someone's someone by just looking at their typing style or vocab they use.

True, and nice job, but it's hard to keep up a persona for many posts. Eventually, they'll slip up.

Yes I know that. But that with a combination of other things, gives that person away. For instance. There is someone on the forums who keeps registering after they keep getting banned. I can usually tell its the same person after 4-5 posts. It's really not that hard.

But the bottom line is, we can either ban all contests, or we can work to keep cheating out. I have no problems stopping the contests here. If thats what people want, then fine. So be it. But if people want to continue with photoshop contests. These rules WILL be followed.
