89 caprice

This could be my possable replacement car.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...08447749QQrdZ1

I think it is nice but the guy might want more for the reserve than i have to spend. Also was it a 305 in 89 or the 307?

Re: 89 caprice

That would be an L03, 305 Chevy TBI engine in that car. Only the wagons would have gotten a 307 VIN Y Olds engine.

Decent looking car from the topside. The bottom though...... uggghh.

Re: 89 caprice

In ohio that looks good on the bottom, very solid. The gas tank worries me though.

Re: 89 caprice

That can be easily replaced with a 91-96 tank which is plasitc and you won't have to worry about rust on the tank.

Nice that it's in your neighborhood too.
I wish you could search eBay listing by location.

Another thing to think about regarding what engine it has is that if it says TBI it's the L03. The 307 Y only was available with the carb.

There is a search option on the left side of the page on eBay that lets you look either worldwide or the US only, and you can also search from 10 to 2000 miles from a zip code you input into the box labeled "Zip/Postal".

Yea thats what i do. I just click on distance: closest and then i only look up to about 30 or 40 miles. The only thing i hate is when people put brand new cars on there and start it off at like $100 then nobody bids on them.

Re: 89 caprice

Looks pretty decent. Carpet needs to be replaced and the underside looks bad as others have said. I wish you were closer to me. I'm considering selling mine and it's in great shape minus some cosmetics that will be fixed shortly.

Re: 89 caprice

well there is a guy selling a boxy style caprice up my street that is for sale. It is a brougham and it has dual exhausts. Did they have 350's in anything besides 9c1s?

Re: 89 caprice

In 1989, the 5.7L 350-cid was available only in the Caprice 9c1. So if it came from the factory with a 350, it would have to be a 9c1. If it has dual exhausts, however, that means someone has already started to modify it from its factory form (Caprice did not come with dual exhaust until 1994 with LT1). So it is quiet possible the original engine was removed and a 350 was put in its place.

Re: 89 caprice

And dual exhaust is a good $1k on that car... it was $300 cat-back for single exhaust on mine. I was quoted about $800 with an emissions legal Y pipe (which sucks) and just a tad over $1000 for headers and no cats.
