To swap or not to swap
I have both a 1993 Ford Taurus and a 1995. The 93 has a 3.8 motor and the 95 has a 3.0 motor. The 93 seems in pretty good shape with about 130,000 miles on it and the 95 only has 75,000. The 95 was recked in the front but the engine and drive train are all good and I know the engine is in good shape. The 93 however has a blown head gasket as I understand is a common problem.
I'm not sure if this can be done but I wondered if the complete drive train from the 95 could be droped into the 93. My other option is to replace the head gasket on the 93 and hope their are no other problems. I know these cars can have a lot of problems and this is only a second BEATER car for me so I don't want to drop a lot of money in it but if I can get it running for a few hundred bucks and get 3 or 4 years of driving out of it I'm game . . . your thoughts Randy |

Re: To swap or not to swap
I don't know about the swap, but I think you will be a lot better off just doing a gasket job on the '93. I've swapped engines and changed automatics to sticks and have always run into numerous unanticipated problems.

Re: To swap or not to swap
See what the differences are. Do they mount the same? Same wiring? Computer? Sensors? Guages?

Re: To swap or not to swap
just swap the whole subframe over, that would be by far the easiest.
