SOB, both p0440 and p0302 codes

well my car sucks. its a 98 malibu ls 3100v6. i had the codes pulled because my check engine light was on. well are there any COMMON causes of this code. no the gascap hasn't been removed while the car was a) running or b)left off after filling up. i've heard alot of time the gascap will go bad, common or not? and the p0302 is the #2 cylinder misfiring.. im gonna go ahead and change out teh plugs and wires and hope it works... anything else i can expect from these 2 codes? i know theres gotta be some common problems with these cars, seems everyone i know who's owned one all feels the same.. they suck, they suck, they suck. thanks for the help

Re: SOB, both p0440 and p0302 codes

I was getting a p0302 #2 cylinder misfiring when my intake gasket was leaking. Look for an antifreeze leak on the top LH side of the block. Verify that you don't have antifreeze in your oil and vise versa. In my case, oil was dumping into the antifreeze. If your car is around 80,000 miles this is probably your problem.
