heads or bottom end?

Hey guys, I spun a bearing in my 5.0, now I have to make a decision based on the $1500. I have to work with. Since my crank and one rod are trash now should I spend my money on a 347 kit, or should I buy a short block my friend has which needs to be re-ringed (rebuilt a few hundred miles ago, for some reason he thinks rings just didnt seat?) and spend the difference on a set of Edelbrock Performer heads. I have a performer EFI intake, larger fuel pump (dont remember volume right now) "B" cam And I have a set of 1.7 roller rockers I want to put on. Oh yea, I am running a Paxton SC w/6 psi. I was running mid 12's at Bristol, looking for 10.
