02 5.3 Hesitates then dies later

I have an 02 Sub 4x4 with 95K on the clock. It ran perfect not more than a month ago. It all started with a slight hesitation on heavy accelleration while house hunting. The hesitation eventually felt like a flooding carb. That same day, it progressively got worse to the point of not being able to maintain idle and eventually died. When it died, I turned the key on and off several times in an effort to see if the fuel pump sounded right, then it started. It idled fine and responded well to flooring the throttle while parked. I drove it about a block back to the house at a little more than idle. I didn't have time to mess with it with everything that was going on that day, so we hopped in the silverado and left.

I know fuel pumps can be intermittant, but they're usually connected with an odd noise. Any thoughts what this might be? Intermittant fuel pressure regulator? Anything else?

TIA

I would change your fuel filter first and see what happens....

Re: 02 5.3 Hesitates then dies later

check your fuel pressure regulator by pulling off the vacumm hose off of it. If it is wet inside it is bad, if it is dry it is good. Hope this helps.
