HID's

What does HID stand for and how much would they run for $$$? And is it a special bulb or is it something more than that?

Re: HID's

HID=High intensity Discharge
its a upgraded harness the has a biult in balast system that end more electirsity to the bulbs making them burn way brighter. The kits for the eclipse run about 350 to 550 dollers. as for bulbs i avoid silverstars. go with lumitech.

Re: HID's

There are kits on EBAY that are actually really good. Around $280 for everything you need. They will include 2 ballasts and 2 bulbs. All you have to do is tell them the type of bulb you need. They are super easy to install. Anything over 8,000K Are illegal, but who cares...they look sick as hell. I have dual 14000K in mine and they are sweet.

agreed. also, this number has NOTHING to do with the light output of the bulb. the number is the Kelvin rating(temperature) of the bulb which determines what the color will be.

i will be getting these soon.

Re: HID's

Are you planning on keeing your stock headlight assembly, or are you/do you have projectors?

I wired my headlights so that both high and low beams are on at the same time ( I have projectors so there are 2 sets of lights). With the HID's i have in they look crazy. And I have yet to get pulled over for it.

Re: HID's

Silverstars burn out QUICK!!! And for 40 bucks a pop it gets $$$. HID lights are supposed to last over 3,000 Hours of on time. That more than twice a regular bulb. There is also just something about the light an HID puts out than a halogen cant. If you look at an HID and certain angles it changes color, even if it isnt through a projector lense. Cant beat the real thing. My car looks like an arc welder the size of a space ship at night. Crazy purple blue!!

Re: HID's

I have syilvania and they are ok. I likem because they are so bright that people will actually flash me because they think that I am running my highs when I actually only have my lows on. It's kinda funny when I flash back at the to tell them they where mistaken
