Can anyone tell me how I can get more boost from my twins on a 1ggte? Im new to turbos, I build the the us small block, now trying something new in my wifes 88 supra.Do the manual boost controller that I see on ebay work and if so,how do they work,they look like they hook into the vacuume lines.I know what a bov does. On an adjustable bov what does adjusting it from soft to hard do,will this help with preformance? And is a longer or taller intercooler better?

On a Supra you want the the intercooler long rather than tall. A tall intercooler will end up sitting behind the bumper and wouldn't get much air flow. Another thing you have to do is either mount the intercooler flush to the radiator, or install duct work to the intercooler. If you don't the air will spill around the intercooler rather than going through it. The turbos on the 1ggte aren't very big, so don't expect much out of them.

The boost levels are maintained by a device called a waste gate. It is a valve that opens and allows the exaust gas to bypass the turbo. It is controlled by a diafram that has a line that runs to the intake manifold. When maniflod pressure reaches a certian point the waste gate opens allowing the exaust to bypass the turbo.

Boost controllers are mounted in the manifold pressure reference line. They bleed off some of the pressure that goes to the waste gate controller. They fool the waste gate into thinking there is less pressure than there really is. This means that more maniflod pressrue is required to open the waste gate. Electronic and manual boost controllers both work on this principal.

Don't waste your money on the "manual" boost controllers on ebay. All they are is a bleeder valve that sits on the boost reference line going to the waste gate. You can get a valve like that at a hardware store for a fraction of the price that they are on ebay.

The adjustments on the BOV are to increase or decrease the point at which it opens. You generally want it set at 2 or 3 PSI over your peak boost setting.

I do not recomend changing your boost levels with out some method of watching and controlling your air fuel ratio. When you raise boost levels you are putting more air into the engine. If you do not have a way to control your mix you will lean out the engine and damage it.
