Old Rock Song, The lyrics are confusing

It's got some great guitar playing in it, I heard it on an oldies station, and got it stuck in my head.

sometimes it has the word children in the lyrics, then I remember one line "though we went through the empty streets, down to the harbor"

One thing to note about this song, it's very dramatic but kind of a lazy tone to it. It's interesting to say the least and as I've said, I love the guitar playing in it. Does anyone know this song? Thanks!

From what decade? How old is the music the station plays?

Okay guys I can see you're trying to help, but I'm not asking someone to simply look this up online. I tried that already, I'm asking if you've heard it before and remember the artist or name.

I am old (sort of), if you point me in the right decade and type (soft, hard, etc.) and a few more words. I can prolly tell you what it is.

Dramatic with a lazy tone, Pink Floyd maybe?

I think Davo's right, still looking for the music itself but the lyrics follow what I remember.

Actually Eversio is right, it's a pink floyd song, the Waterboy lyrics are different and I just heard the song again, they're playing pink floyd songs all night, some anniversary maybe? I'll find the title soon and post it

I have it clearly in my head now, "The night sorrounds us" or something...must concentrate!!!

edit I'm gonna feel really stupid if it isn't pink floyd

One last try to see if anyone's heard it I whistled the melody
http://h1.ripway.com/Dyno/songzero.mp3

and here's the lines I remember

The children are sleeping or laughing
The night that surrounds us
though we went down through empty streets to the harbor
* adds it sounds like its from the 70's

I am very close to calling the station, maybe i could request it O_o, it's hard to hear what the guy says honestly so I never fully remembered the lyrics

The Song Tapper is your friend...Google it.

I tried using your whistle track, maybe you'll have more luck.

Re: Old Rock Song, The lyrics are confusing

If it is Pink Floyd, it's something from Syd Barret's era, I don't recall any floyd from the 70's with those lyrics.

Decribe the music, clean, distoryed, whammy effects? echo's? Lenght? Loud in parts, soft, quiet, rich texture, recall ALL the instruments? Multiple vocalists? Harmory in vocals? Saxophones?
