Intermittent 1500+rpm at startup

C'mon guys! I'm reposting this because I know someone else has experienced this or knows someone who has. I have a 2000 Montana that has recently begun to jump into fast idle(1500+ rpm) on startup intermittently and even occasionally after a drive at freeway speed. No codes have been set. We can get out of fast idle by turning the key off and restarting. Has anyone experienced this and corrected it??? Is this a TPS issue??? IAC issue???
How about it CDRU, MT2500, anybody???
Regards,gb

Re: Intermittent 1500+rpm at startup

OK, I'm only posting this because no one else has responded. It's a long shot and doesn't even come from my experience with my Montana.

However, my son owns a '00 Saturn, and he was having problems with it surging after it was warm. The problem was the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor sending incorrect info to the engine computer. The computer thought the engine was cold and gave it more gas. Replacing the ECTS caused his car to run better than it had in the whole time we've owned it. Not bad for a $20 part!

Hufhouse, Thanks for the response. I have a code reader that allows me to read temp output from the ECTS in real time and the output temps follow my in-dash temp gauge right on.

Gkindub,

My Dad is experiencing the same problem with his 2000 Montana. He stopped in to the local dealership and asked them if they knew of the problem and they said that they did not. He doesn't want the dealership to check it out for cost reasons, especially if they spend hours attempting to locate the problem. I'll let you know if he comes up with a solution.

doninkalamazoo, Thanks for responding to my post. I have not resolved this issue yet, however I have not had a recurrence in about 2 weeks?? Please post if your dad finds out anything on this.
