Rear Wiper spray Troubles
I am having a problem with the rear washer not spraying. The problem seems to be crystals so I have been told, does anyone know how to clear this problem?

Re: Rear Wiper spray Troubles
First of all what do you mean by crystals? I had a problem with mine also so I checked to see if the lines were clogged, they weren't, so next I checked the actual washer pump. I went to Auto Zone and got a new pump and it started working again. You need to figure out if the pump is working at all, if you don't think its working get a new pump, they dont cost much.

Re: Rear Wiper spray Troubles
Does you front washer work? I think there is one pump for both.
I just fixed my rear washer problem in 2000 4dr by finding 2 places where the hose came apart in the back. It was fairly easy to remove the trim over the rear interior light (snaps) and off the rear hatch (screwdriver and torx). Plastic tie straps work great to hold the lines back together. The one inside the rear hatch has a one way valve. It has to be put in the right direction and you won't see the arrow without removing the foam. Mine was laying inside the trim when I removed it. Line was tight, so I just pulled the anchor out to give the line enough slack. My fix didn't cost anything. good luck. |

Re: Rear Wiper spray Troubles
I have a 1997 Blazer and mine has two different pumps on the washer fluid reservoir, one for the front and one for the back.

Re: Rear Wiper spray Troubles
The pump sounds like it is working and it appears to be the upper pump on the tank. The truck is an 05 and I was told if the line could have crystals in it???? I thought it was ice but it is above freezing now.I can't quite reach the hose connection on the pump to verify the pump is pumping, is it just pushed on? When I had it in for service in Dec. the service rep. said it is common for crystals to form on these trucks and was not covered because I don't use GM fluid. Crap or truth??? Any help appreciated before the next service .I will have them deal with it if I can't resolve it on my own.

Re: Rear Wiper spray Troubles
When I had the same problem ('99 Blazer) I had a friend take it into his shop to check to see what the problem was. Debris (or "crystals") gets caught in the line between the pump and the rear window.
He put an air hose to the line coming out of the reservoir and ran about 10-25 psi through the line - with the line connecting to the rear sprayer disconnected. It built up a little pressure and then blew out the crud. He said that you have to be careful not to run too much pressure or you could rupture the line - usually in a place that is a real bitch to get at. Hope this helps.
