PVC IC piping?

Okay so a friend of mine told me that I could just get a FMIC core and use PVC piping for the ic piping. Another friend of mine has a 240sx and did just that. I wanted to get opinions on this. If I decided to do this I would run with the pvc setup for a month or so, then I would use the pvc pipes to go to a muffler shop and get aluminum pipes made.

I supposed it is possible, but don't expect it to dissapate any heat really.

Re: PVC IC piping?

Thats what my friend did on his turbo 420a neon. It works, but not as efficient as metal would be. If you are using it for a temporary, thats ok, but I wouldnt use it permanently.

Re: PVC IC piping?

PVC intercooler piping is not a good idea. It would work, but PVC is not designed to repeatedly withstand the beating of being inside an engine bay.

Re: PVC IC piping?

at high temperatures, PVC also outgasses a gas that can turn into Hydrochloric Acid when mixed with air. ABS plastic (what factory piping is made out of) should be fine, but I'd never put PVC under my hood.

Re: PVC IC piping?

You can get a "universal" ic piping kit on ebay. It's just a bunch of bends and couplers. I'd say the couplers are almost as, if not more expensive than the actual tubing (assuming you'r getting good couplers)
