Re: Paint Jobs @ Maaco

i had maaco paint my old 93 sentra.. and they did an alright coverup and the car looked nice. the top coat isn't thick at all, it really suseptable to scratches. and they take nothing off your car like the mirrors or molding they just simply tape off the windows and mirrors and spray... they remove no dents or put any time in prepin a car... like the old saying you get what you pay for... if you took the time to prep your own car and take it in there to get painted with the maaco signiture then yeah it would be worth it... it's all on you though.. i would rate my exp with them ..moderate to poor. good luck though

Re: Paint Jobs @ Maaco

now that someone brought this up, i'm curious:

--how much do you think it'll run a guy to paint his own car? nothing extraordinary, but to make it look decent

--how much is primer/paint

--what fundamental prep procedures HAVE to be done so that you get a decent paint job?

reason is the clear coat on my altima is nonexistent, and the paint is a joke, so i was wondering if i should just prime and paint the damn thing myself, just so i actually have a shell to polish, hehe

Re: Paint Jobs @ Maaco

i just got a quote for my car it was about 400.. i would say depending on how long you plan on haveing the car would better determine what kind of paint job you should get.. if your only gonna keep it for like 2 years just get a maaco but any more than that get a real one done.. its not that maaco uses bad paint.. its just that its acrylic paint.. so if you were to give someones rear end a love tap the paint will probably crack.. i cant think of the name of the other kind of paint but like i said if you were to give some one a love tap with the other kind of paint it wouldnt crack because this kind flexes with the metal or plastic.. obviously to a certain extent but it does..
