2002 Silverado rear caliper shield, transfer case fluid

I got this GM part # for a rear caliper brake shield, 15188166, but when I looked it up at GMpartsdirect, it came back no such number. Does anyone no
what the correct number is? I was going to change the fluid in my transfer
case. I was informed that it takes a special kind of fluid. It is push button
shift on the fly. Does anyone know of a substitute or should I be able to purchase this fluid from the dealer? If I can, how much will I need?

'rear caliper brake shield'.....what you do to have to change that? sorry, i don't know the part number.......If your looking to buy transfer case fluid, then you need to buy the AutoTrac 2 Fluid.......you can buy it at the stealership for like 4 or 5 bucks a quart....you only need to buy 3 quarts.....hope this helps.....

Thanks for the fluid help. the rear caliper shield info I found on www.mightautoparts.com point to technical library, this will show a list under
it. Then point to articles index. Then click on tech tips archives. It will show you a list of articles. The third article down is for Chevy trucks. Click on this and scroll through article. It will show a picture and a part number for the caliper shield. I stopped at a chevy dealer and they could not find that number in their system. Does anybody know about this caliper shield and where I could get one? It would be greatly appreciated.

your path to the picture......the link you gave me shows some other stuff to me.......You are talking about the piece of metal towards the inner side of the rotors.....It's is about 1/8 of a inch thick, and sits along side the rotor.....(it's a circle the same size as the rotor) right.......? If I am wrong, then get me another link to see a picture.......maybe the part you are looking for is not called, 'rear caliper brake sheild.....? Find a link to a pic, other then the one you gave me?

The part number I got from that site is 15765007 and it comes up as a good number from GMPD for mud shields for in front of the rear tires.

Alright...my question is 2 fold. One..how do I post on this site? I have looked high and low and can't find anything where it leads me to post? Second is I changed the rear pads on my 01 Silverado today no problem what so ever until I went to tighten the top bolt on each side driver and passenger side.They just keep turning...any ideas? Thank you all for your help.

You probably didn't align the bolt holes properly....they have to fit.......try and do the top on first, but leave it loosel, then put the bottom one on, and then tighten............. and mr. sparks......is it the mud gaurds that you are looking for......?

OK, here is another way, type in: TT 125 Chevy Truck Brakes, on your search line of your home page. It should be the first search result. It should
say Might Auto Parts --> Tech Tips archives. Click on this and it should bring
you to a page with a list of difffent topic. The link of TT125 Chevy Truck Brakes should be the third one down on the page. Click on this and it should
bring up a pdf and you can scroll down and it will show you a picture of the
rear cailper shield with a part number. I checked the number with a chevy
dealer and it was news to him.

mrsparky's link didn't have the "Y" for mighty auto parts, his was might auto parts.

I did see the part number you have listed for a shield that covers the banjo bolt for the brake line, now that I looked at the link again. Are you having trouble with the bolt coming loose and leaking fluid?

You were right, it was supposed to be mighty, sorry about that. Anyway, I
see what you are saying. I thought that it would cover the entire caliper and
keep debris from getting in the brake pads and wearing them out quicker. My
bad! Has anyone used the rear wheel mud flaps that go in front of the rear tire?
They sure want a lot of money at the dealer. I might could do it if it works

I Have same problem on my 2000 Chevy silverado and looking as to fix for why the bolts do not tighten up as well. Any ideas as to the fix or other places I can look.

As far as the botls not tightening up. You can use a "open ended" 5/8 wrench and hold the "nuts" that are between the caliper and the caliper mounts. they will appear as though they are not able to be held but they are flat on two sides. Perfect for an open ended wrench. Hope that helps.
