Question Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

Hi, I have a 2001 sunfire 2.2l and I was wondering how the best way to make a cold air intake would be. what kind of bends will give me the least air restrictions, considering the throttle body sits with the hole on the top... should i do an immediate 90 dergee angle and straight over the manifold. or should i sneak down by the inner drivers side wheel well?? also what companies offer performance parts for my car? it seems that the sunfire wasnt that popular and are just getting into the scene.

Re: Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

weather you do a "WAI" or a "CAI" the price will be about the same. but there isn't a considerable different. But to make it you need a 90 off the TB and then a straight piece and then a 45 and some more straight. depends i on some stuff

Re: Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

sweet... i think im gonna go with a cai, me and my dad started making one today... we're gonna try to put it in the bumpre just under the rad, and were going to try to enclose the filter and have a "ram air" type system... i live in canada, and i was wondering if you knew of any distibuters of headers, and exhaust systems, the full deal... i have a lil money to play with, and would like to get the most out of it... thanks

www.turbotechracing.com

Discount Codes to Receive the Group Purchase Price on Pacesetter headers and exhausts.

All Pacesetter Ceramic Headers use the discount code “PACCERGP”
All Pacesetter Painted Headers use the discount code “PACPNTGP”
All Pacesetter Cat Back Exhaust Systems use the discount code “PACEXHGP”
Magnaflow Catalytic Converters use the discount code “MFGGP”

reffer to JBO for further information. I got my header through them last spring's GP, for a little cheaper but since then prices on steel has gone up.

Re: Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

none? lol all the gains are pretty much in the CC or in the bigger piping used 2 make the exhaust i believe...i might b wrong but im 99 % sure that a performance muffler dosnt add anything but sound

Re: Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

ok, i will keep that in mind, i didnt think it would really do anything, but now i know that im not gonna keep my stock cat on. im ordering the pacesetter headers and cat-back exhaust, and now i will be ordering a new cat. is there a difference between the painted, or the ceramic? and also what kind of cc should i be looking for? thanks!

Re: Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

ceramic is better for a header and I'd say don't waste your time with a cat back. $500 for a muffler and piping is a little nuts. Just buy you a bigger highflow cat and a new muffler and then just get new piping like 2.5. You'll see a price difference

Re: Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

Back to Intakes, The stock air box must have a lot of restrictions cause its got that huge box by the TB so i would imagine a intake should help quite a bit but what do you do with the breather tube coming from the valv cover to the intake box?

Re: Cold Air Intake for 01 2.2L

because of the hole on the valve cover is why you get oil.
