Re: ski racing!

I love skiing, but ive never raced. I think i'd be at least decent at it, because im always "that guy" at the mountain that is tucked and parallel skiing straight down as fast as humanly possible. Sucks to crash at those speeds though.
Haven't gone skiing yet this yer though... this winter has been kinda silly out east.

Re: ski racing!

I work at a ski-area.... I love to do the sunday Donut Race. They set up this Giant Slalom course and you go down as many times as you want and you get a coupon for 1 free donut. Pretty sweet.

actually that's not true at all. you can ski on sand. in fact in dubai you can go sandboarding and sand-skiing. you ski or board down sand dunes out in the desert.

Re: ski racing!

I love watching all forms of ski racing - moguls, freestyle, slalom etc.

I love skiing myself with as many family and friends as I can rope in each year.

Unfortunately, a small monopolised industry makes skiing even more hideously expensive than usual in Australia. I try to get down multiple times per season (ski slopes are a 6 hour drive away).

I can't wait to go to Canada with my family and girlfriend for my third ski trip this December (Big White, Silver Star, Whistler, Fernie?).

We're planning a year travelling starting mid 2007 based around ski resorts.
My equipment: 2004 Volkl 724 170cm and 2004 Salomon Crossmax 10 w/ S710 bindings (both have a DIN of 8).

Re: ski racing!

Man, I haven't been skiing in AGES.. okay, 2 seasons. This winter has sucked my BUTTHOLE!!! It's been like 50 and RAIN, which of course KILLS any powder the local resorts have actually gotten (not that it's much). I WANT SNOW. Oh, and I want new skis, too. I will just have to wait til the end of the season for clearance time to come.

Re: ski racing!

i've been to whistler and its great, i'd reccomend it any day. great slopes, great places to go, everything's great and the signposting ensures you'll never get lost there. it was blackcomb in whistler where i stayed. and that was a few years ago so i'm sure it's even better now.

I know.

Whistler Blackcomb: season 01, season 03 (and soon) season 07, well putting some turns in at least.

Re: ski racing!

I raced in high school, occasionally run a nastar course, mostly do steep high speed runs with friends. High school racing was motivated too much by politics and it was something I didnt' want to get into.
