Dead Radio

My original radio is dead. Would a radio with automatic climate control swap out with the one I have?

Re: Dead Radio

I assume you are referring to a 1996 or newer Taurus? If not, using a radio from a Taurus (or many other Ford products of the same year) should work just fine. You will need to be aware of the grade of audio system you have in your car versus the grade of system the donor radio is coming from. The JBL system in the older cars used external amplifiers, the base model did not.

If a 1996 or newer, the radio control and display is part of the Integrated Control Panel which also includes the HVAC controls. If your car has the manual controls, you can most likely swap out radio control and display module, but you cannot just hook up the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC). The EATC uses electronic actuators for the HVAC. The manual controls use a combination of vacuum and cable controls. You would need to swap out a significant amount of HVAC components.
