Delco CD-Player problems

I installed a replacement (OEM) Delco head unit in my 96 GMC Sierra that I purchased off of ebay because the original one became defective. This new(er) one seems to work great except that it doesn't want to play cd's in the remote (OEM) cd-player. It accepts the disk, goes silent, but I never hear the cd spool-up. After a moment, it simply display's err and then goes back to the radio. If I press eject, it will eject fine. It worked (with dificulty) before the head unit change-out. What could be the problem?

Probably wore out. Mine does that with regular frequency and I chalk it up to age. People with the same option I know have similar issues wit it. Now if this is new from Delco it should be under warranty. But if you bought it off places like Ebay then it is probably whay is was there. Owner had trouble and installed an aftermarket unit.
