Beach VWs(crazy progress)

1st, we have the new Beetle woodie:

Needs much work still. But I did all of that there last night. I seem to work really fast when motivated. Hehe..

There are 2 more VW on the way. Chad(freakmerch) has the bodies, painting them GROOVY colors. So they'll be a secret untill he posts them up.

I'm not sure about how I am doing the roof just yet. It might be either, removeable all the way, or the front, a targa top. Leaning toward the 1st option. And wheels....something VW for sure.

I might use a pickup bed inside for the back, or make one from wood. The outside is getting woodied though definately.

Some MS paint teasers

And thanks to Blip over in the Sketching and Drawing section, here is a pic done with PS

Any ideas? Comments?

Thanks

Crazy indeed. Good luck with it. Hopefully it will be seen at NNL East in March

Re: Beach VWs(crazy progress)

That's some nice scratch work, man. Are you going to leave it a panel truck or open up some windows? Surfboards in the back? Or what?

Panel woodie. Long boards...maybe out of wood. I think that would be so "rad" hehe...

Re: Beach VWs(crazy progress)

If you're gonna put boards in the back, I'd open up the windows. Throw some beer and stuff in there, too, man.

Re: Beach VWs(crazy progress)

So the MS paint version on the top looks about right.

The model so far looks more "ice cream truck" than woody

Cool concept, keep up the good work

Re: Beach VWs(crazy progress)

I know exactly what you mean Bob. There is going to be a roof. Wheather or not the piece covers the whole length of the car, I dunno yet. The front might be a tonneau type deally. But it will all have a covering at some point. You need to start readin Steve!! hehe..n00b!

Re: Beach VWs(crazy progress)

Mystery part for mystery model. It is somewhat VW. Try and guess what it might be. It's hard to see it in these pics. Chad knows

Re: Beach VWs(crazy progress)

this is just insane and definitely looking forward to seeing it done... for some reason, the "wood trim" on the side reminds me of my good old Plymouth Voyageur back in the 80s.
