1997 S10 Cruise control question

I want to add a factory cruise control to my truck.

If I go to a salvage yard and get the entire steering column and the cruise unit from under the hood how difficult will it be to hook it up?

I assume that there will be wiring issues but without a direct plug in I would need a wiring schematic.

Can it be done or is it too much trouble to fool with?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jim

I answered my own question after some more research. If you go to the junkyard and find (in my case it had to be a 1997 with a 2.2 4 cyl.) truck with factory cruise you can get the complete cruise / turn siginal handle and the cruise control unit with cable from under the hood firewall and just plug everything in. I could not believe it but everything was pre-wired on my truck from the factory.

Just for laughs, the truck I got the parts from also had a factory tach gauge cluster that mine didn't have so I thought I would try to install it also. Again, it plugged in and everything works just like it came that way from the General.

It pays to keep trying some things do work out.

I wouldn't do it because I'd be afraid of messing something up like frying wiring or having throttle stick on high, etc. Possible many headaches and regrets. It is in mine but wire left off of throttle control solenoid becasue it stuck on near full throttle once on highway.
