Question clutch adapter plate

My daughter couldn't pay to get her 94 Ford Ranger clutch fixed so, good old Dad volunteered (mistake #1) I should of quite after not being able to disconnect the quick disconnect and busting all the bolts on the exhaust but no I keep going anyhow after pulling the trans. and looking for the pilot bearing which had no roller bearings should of just called the wrecker at that point. Had to order the quick disconnect from Ford which consisted of the whole line $80. Purchased all the clutch componets and then started to clean trans thats when I found some bearings so I took the clutch adapter plate off and sure enough a whole bunch of bearings plus the seal. Called Ford said there's no bearings behind there so I took acloser look in the trans and you can see the bearings so my question is where did they come from the adapter plate is scared up does anyone have any suggestions?
