Intermittent Fast Idle
I have a 2000 Montana that has recently begun to jump into fast idle(1500+ rpm) on startup intermittently and even occasionally after a drive at freeway speed. No codes have been set. We can get out of fast idle by turning the key off and restarting. Has anyone experienced this and corrected it??? Is this a TPS issue or IAC issue???

Re: Intermittent Fast Idle
I have a 2000 Montana - same problem. Did you ever solve this issue? I'm putting it into the shop this week.

Re: Intermittent Fast Idle
I have not resolved this problem yet, however, it hasn't been a problem last couple of weeks. My sense is that it has something to do w/ the carbon buildup inside the the throttle body but I don't know this for sure. Thanks for the reply. Sorry I couldn't save you a trip to the shop.

I found this information under the oldsmoble sillouette forum, which has the same engine. Type "Throttle Body Plate Sticking" in the search window and you will find the post about 12 or 13 down the list. My dad has not had a reoccurance yet either???? This could be the problem through. doninkalamazoo |
