Engine Mount Pictures?

Hey all, garage quoted me $420 to repair my broken engine mount - I really think I could probably do it myself, but I'd like to get a look at what I'm dealing with first.. Since my truck is at the garage right now, does anyone have a picture of a motor mount on a 90ish Jimmy/Blazer?

Thanks
Ben

Re: Engine Mount Pictures?

I'm not sure that anyone has posted pics, but here is a thread that was started some time ago about them.
I think they are fairly easy to replace, you just need to jack up the engine.

Hope this helps.

Re: Engine Mount Pictures?

I imagine somebody on the boards has done a swap and has pics. I just haven't had to do it, yet.
Hope it goes smooth for you.

Re: Engine Mount Pictures?

Which side are you wanting or needing to change. 420 dollars is really excessive for a motor mount replacement. I've done it many times and only charge about a hundred dollars, and let the customer pay the motor mount. If it's on the side of the starter, you'll need to remove the starter so you can get to the motor mount bolts. Once you have the motor mount bolts out, use a jack or a cherry picker to lift your motor up high enough to remove the mounts from under the engine. Repalce the new one and just reverse the process.

Re: Engine Mount Pictures?

Assume its a 4wd and the drivers side has no room and is a pain. 1 bolt to the frame then 3 to the block. Yes, book is like 3.1 hours for it and add .6 for other at $70/hr now (if drivers side separated then the pass side is or will go soon) plus then about $65 per mount ($30 if you buy them) - so shop is about right around $400. Note that 2wd is easy to reach them.

Re: Engine Mount Pictures?

Yup its 4wd, its old, numerous things have leaked over the years so its probably all gummed up in there as it is.. I've decided to just let the shop take care of it because the only person that could have helped me do it is out of town till next week and I need my truck before then.. Oh well - heres hoping that is indeed the problem and that I get a few more months out of the beast lol
