Dead Car

I have a 1990 Eagle Talon with a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant 2.0 DOHC engine in it. The engine was just rebuilt and had a new hydraulic belt tensioner put on it for the timing. It also had a rebuilt head put on it. After all this was done i started to drive the car on a 200 mile trip. I got past the first 100 miles and then the car just shut down like the key was turned off. I coasted to the side of the road and tried to restart the car. the engine rolled over fine but would not start. I had the car towed home and later tried to start the car (after setting for about 2 weeks) and found that the car sounded like the starter clicked and would not roll over. I had the battery charged and tested to make sure this was not the problem and the battery was fine and the car did the same thing after the battery was put back in the car. I then took the plastic cover off the top of the timing belt to see if the belt moved at all and when the key was turned the starter clicked and the timing belt would rock the cams but would not turn them. Help!!!!

I forgot to mention this is not a turbo model.

Sounds like it slipped timing and a valve is contacting a piston

What would be an easy way of telling if a piston is against a valve? I really dont want to have the head taken off unless i have to.
