I have a 98 trooper which is presently wrecked, my daughter wrapped it around a telephone pole,(the pole is deceased, as is the body of my trooper), the trooper was purchased for her as a first vehicle, lucky girl! This brings me to the next issue, which is, before she wrecked the car the motor spun a bearing off the crankshaft and we had to put a different motor in the veh. The engine is a 2003 3.5 out of an acura. My mechanic had to do a lot of changing to the electronic sensors and stuff to make it work good. He did a fantastic job of marrying the new with the old. I now have a 98 trooper with a 2003 engine with 7000 miles on it and a body shop that wants more than the car is worth to make it look good again. I want to perhaps find another entire body at a salvage yard or purchase another trooper with a straight body to install the new engine in. The rubber is brand new, the clutch is brand new, the engine might as well be brand new, but the body is $9000.00 away from being new! Can someone Help me find a new body for my engine? Also can someone tell me if there is a cut off for the year of trooper where I won't have to do a lot of electronic changes to the engine to make it work?

What did it cost you to have the acura engine installed? Did it bolt up to the Isuzu tranny? Have any photos? Why isn't your insurance covering the costs to fix it?

The years you would be looking at are: 98-02.

I see some troopers +98 on ebay that have bad motors but I can't imagine the cost to do a body swap for one. . .

This was a manual tranny? Very interesting combination to have the newer body style with an even newer acura engine!

Somethin' doesnt make sense! The Acura SLX (trooper clone) was only in production from 1996-1999. No such thing as a 2003 acura 3.5L that will bolt into a trooper w/out MAJOR drivetrain, electrical, cooling system, exhaust, etc..etc... modifications. You'd never get it to be OBDII compliant.

You could find a pre-'92 Trooper for under $2000 and put that engine in there, then fix it up to near perfect condition... Of course, stuff probably doesn't fit so nicely in an older Trooper...
