1997 deville, oil pressure light?? no engine knocking

1997 deville,,, oil pressure light comes on periodically,,, esp when slowing down. oil level reads fine,,, then today,, after the oil pressure light lit up,,, the display read "turn off engine,,, oil pressure low". The engine is not running hot and no knocking or ticking is heard?? i know it "could" be the oil sensor unit which my husband could replace. Or do you think I should take it in to the service center? Thanx,,, Mel

First of all, I wouldn't drive the car until you resolve this. It's probably just the sensor itself or a dirty connection at the sensor. I'd take a shot and replace the sensor first. If that fails then it has to go in.

Thumbs up Re: 1997 deville, oil pressure light?? no engine knocking

I replaced the oil sending unit, oil filter, and changed the oil last night. Drove it about an hour,, and the oil pressure light did not ever come on,,, even with deceleration which was a constant before. Car runs like a dream....
